Words of Life

These are words of inspiration and wisdom from different sources I have come across and would like to share. Take your time and read them carefully, and understand them.

Mind is the Master power that moulds and makes,
And Man is Mind, and evermore he takes
The tool of Thought, and, shaping what he wills,
Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills:—
He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass:
Environment is but his looking-glass.

I do not know what I may appear to the world, but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me. -Isaac Newton

Cherish your visions. Cherish your ideals. Cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts, for out of them will grow all delightful conditions, all heavenly environment, of these, if you but remain true to them your world will at last be built. From "As a Man Thinketh"

There is no limit to what can be accomplished if it doesn't matter who gets the credit. -Ralph Waldo Emerson

For hatred does not cease by hatred at any time: hatred ceases by love, this is an old rule.
Do not speak harshly to anybody; those who are spoken to will answer thee in the same way. Angry speech is painful, blows for blows will touch thee.
From "Dhammapada"

The more a man knows, the more he forgives.
Catherine the Great

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
From "Desiderata"

The first step in the acquisition of wisdom is silence, the second listening, the third memory, the fourth practice, the fifth teaching others.
Solomon Ibn Gabriol

Wisdom is the reward you get for a lifetime of listening when you would rather have talked. -Mark Twain

These are all great but I have to say my favorite is the Mark Twain. I can relate because I "would rather talk," but understand that you gain much wisdom by listening to the more experienced.

    Mr. Michael,
Not many human beings, not many at all, can open their minds to understand the way your's works. It is an amazing thing watching the way you grasp the art of thinking. You may not know this, but you know yourself better than anyone I know. It is incredible.

    Always,

" Fear is only a manifestation of the mind without any type of truth; it only tries to block the force and the true Wisdom that is able to overcome any obstacle.
    " Master Khiashi

" Throughout the centuries there were men who took first steps, down new roads, armed with nothing but their own vision.
    "

" Every day, ordinary people prove that cynicism is a deplorable lie. Stories of courage, heroism, self-sacrifice, and compassion inspire and elevate us because they confirm our extraordinary capacity for nobility.
    "

" For the wakeful one whose mind is quiet, whose thoughts are undisturbed, who has relinquished judgment and blame, there is no fear.
    " Buddha

" Be without fear in the eyes of your enemies. Be brave and upright that God may love thee. Speak the truth even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong. Holiness is in right action and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves.
    "

  2. Inspiring words...I love quotes, especially those from times past. Makes me wish I talked like that everyday! We could relate this to the book chapter I suppose...oh what the world would be without original thought!
